Dubai-based airline flydubai said that the airline diverted its Dubai-Tel Aviv flight FZ 1245 to Ramon International Airport (ETM) on August 25 due to the temporary closure of Ben Gurion International Airport (TLV).

“The return flight FZ 1246 has been cancelled and we are in contact with passengers regarding their rebooking options. Today’s flights are scheduled to operate after Ben Gurion Airport reopens. We will continue to closely monitor the situation and adjust our flight schedule accordingly. Passengers are advised to check the status of their flights on flydubai for the latest information,” a flydubai spokesperson said.

News agencies had previously reported that Israel had carried out targeted attacks in Lebanon to counter an imminent threat to Israel from Hezbollah. Following the attacks in Lebanon, Israel declared a 48-hour state of emergency at 03:00 GMT (7:00 a.m. UAE time) on Sunday.

Hezbollah also said it had launched a large-scale rocket and drone attack on Israel after one of its commanders was killed in an Israeli attack.

“The declaration of a state of emergency allows the Israeli army to issue instructions to the citizens of Israel, including restricting gatherings and closing places where this might be relevant,” said Yoav Gallant, Israel’s Defense Minister.

On Sunday, the Israel Civil Aviation Authority announced the resumption of flights to and from Tel Aviv’s main airport, Ben Gurion, after a brief suspension due to the Israeli military attack on Hezbollah targets in Lebanon.

Abu Dhabi-based airline Etihad Airways said it was assisting passengers on flights to Israel and Lebanon with their travel arrangements.

“Etihad is monitoring the situation across the region and continues to be in close contact with the authorities… The safety of our guests and crew is our top priority and we regret any inconvenience this cancellation may cause,” an Etihad spokesman said.
