After a chase, Mallery said, police believe the suspect – 21-year-old Chase Garvey – shot himself, causing his vehicle to crash. After being taken to the hospital, Garvey succumbed to his injuries.

Mallery said the three injured victims were “all stable and expected to make a full recovery.”

The names of the deceased victims are Shane Miller, 20, of Florence, Hayden Rybicki, 20, of Elsmere, Delaney Eary, 19, of Burlington and Melissa Parrett, 44, of Florence.

Parrett was the owner of the house and was hosting the party for her son’s 21st birthday.

Mallery added that the shooter was “known to the party guests” but believes he was not invited.

According to Mallery, Garvey was a convicted felon.

The Courier Journal reports that Garvey, then 18, was charged with the rape of a 13-year-old girl in 2021. In April 2023, he pleaded guilty to second-degree unauthorized contact with a minor and received five years probation.

“This is the first time there has been a mass shooting in Florence, so this is very emotional,” Mallery said. “My feelings go out to the victims, the families, the police officers who responded and everyone who was affected by this situation.”
