Naomi Watts is associated with action and adventure. Between her roles in films such as King Kong, The impossible, And The Determination – The DeterminationWatts has undoubtedly shown a bold spirit in her acting, but when it comes to her interiors, she prefers a more subdued approach.
In a video recently posted on her Instagram page, we can see the actress doing her skincare routine in her dressing room. Although the products are the main items seen there, we were captivated by her calming surroundings. Behind her, you can see a wooden dresser, a rattan basket, a white armchair and sheer tan curtains, all of which contrast with the white painted walls. The use of natural materials and neutral colors evokes a cozy, serene feeling that we can support.
Design that incorporates the natural world is a mainstay of the current zeitgeist in interior design. It is strongly represented in trends such as Japandi and Organic Modern; it is both fashionable and absolutely timeless. “As summer approaches, nature-inspired design will literally be woven into the fabric of interior design,” explains Victoria Foster, interior designer at ScS.
She continues: “This interior design trend draws inspiration from natural landscapes and incorporates earth tones, botanical motifs and raw materials to create a harmonious and calming environment. Think of it as an ode to nature – it blooms in your own four walls and is the perfect way to forget the winter blues.”
When creating a nature-inspired color scheme, Foster recommends using colors that are typically found in the outdoors.
“The color palette revolves around mossy greens, warm browns and calming blues, evoking the essence of forests, mountains and oceans,” she says. “Furniture with organic patterns and textures, such as rattan and reclaimed wood, will be in high demand.”
Watts has used these materials in her own space, making the process of getting ready (or taking care of your skin) feel even more relaxing thanks to the calming properties of the accessories.
Finally, to enhance the natural decor, Foster would recommend using genuine natural products.
“In terms of decor, houseplants are a key part of the trend,” she says. “Wicker or terracotta plant pots are a great way to continue the natural theme, while placing plants on oak shelves and furniture is a match made in heaven. Try using different sized plants and incorporate the colour green into other areas of your decor – from wall decor and artwork to furniture and accessories.”
