“Five Feet Apart” screenwriter Mikki Daughtry publishes new novel (exclusive)

A new young adult novel by Mikki Daughtry will soon be in bookstores.

PEOPLE can exclusively view the cover of Five feet distance the new youth novel by the author and screenwriter, Again and againThe book will be published by Penguin Teen next summer.

Described by its publisher as an “epic lesbian teen romance”, Again and again tells the story of Libby, an 18-year-old who has always been attracted to an old Victorian house nearby. When the house goes up for sale, Libby buys it with money from an inheritance, hoping to renovate it.

After moving in, Libby finds an old diary belonging to Elizabeth Post, a woman who lived in the house almost 100 years ago and who Libby learns was very much in love with her maid Patricia.

Libby soon meets Tish, a fellow student who moves into the house in exchange for her help with the renovations. As Libby and Tish fall in love, they discover many similarities between their lives and those of Elizabeth and Patricia, and wonder how intertwined their stories really are.

Daughtry has written the screenplays for several films with his writing partner Tobias Iaconis, including 2019’s Five feet distanceDirected by Justin Baldoni, starring Cole Sprouse and Haley Lu Richardson. Daughtry co-wrote the novel with Rachael Lippincott in 2018 and published the YA romance All the time with Lippincott in 2020.
