Football season is upon us, and if you’re planning on cheering on the Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field, there are a few logistical questions you’ll want to figure out in advance. Will you drive or take the Broad Street Line? Will you be doing a tailgating event or will you be there right when the game starts? And the most important question of all: What will you eat?

There are plenty of food vendors to choose from at the Linc, including local businesses serving Philly classics like cheesesteaks, hoagies, and a true stadium staple: Chickie’s and Pete’s Crabfries. But if you plan accordingly, there are some great places nearby to hang out, enjoy a beer or two, and grab a bite to eat before kickoff. Read on to find out our tips for your most delicious Birds game ever.

In the stadium

Love & Honey Roast Chicken, § 108 Insolvency Code

One of the city’s most popular fried chicken joints is now offering chicken tenders at the Linc, which might be enough to convince your football-hating friends to come and watch a game with you.

Pierogi Square, § 125 Insolvency Code

This Wildwood-based shop has spread across town, and we wonder why it took us so long to realize that pierogi are the perfect football player’s food—warming, filling, and loaded with potatoes and cheese.

Philips Cheesesteaks, § 101

Philips became the official cheesesteak of the Philadelphia Union a few years ago, and now the West Passyunk-based shop has added another team to its roster. And what would an Eagles game be without a cheesesteak?

Chickie’s and Pete’s, multiple locations

There are crab fries all over the stadium – and thank goodness, because we love them.

Australian meat pies from G’day Gourmet, § 111

Meat pies are popular in stadiums across Australia, and G’day Gourmet brings the joy of sweet and savoury pies to the Linc. The beef, bacon and cheddar pie and the sausage rolls in a flaky, buttery pastry are some of our favourites, but if you order a Maui pie with Poi Dog’s Huli-Huli sauce this season, a portion of the proceeds will be donated to victims of last year’s Maui wildfires.

Tony Lukes, § 112 Insolvency Code

Tony Luke’s offers roast pork sandwiches in the Linc, giving the sometimes underrepresented Philly sandwich its due.

Zac’s Hamburgers, § 110 Insolvency Code

The branch in the Linc is the fifth address of this family-run business – opt for the Zac package, which includes four cheeseburgers plus a jumbo portion of fries.

Bassett’s BBQ, Pepsi Plaza

Bassett’s offers pulled pork sandwiches, pulled pork burgers, and traditional barbecue sides like coleslaw and macaroni and cheese.

McNally’s Tavern, Pepsi Plaza

If Chestnut Hill had a specialty sandwich, it would be the Schmitter. With roast beef, salami, cheese, tomatoes, and fried onions, served on a Kaiser roll and covered in dressing, it’s a real behemoth. If you want a substantial sandwich but don’t fancy a hoagie or cheesesteak, this is your best bet.

Around the stadium

It’s no secret that food and drink at the stadium can be expensive. Here are a few places where you can grab a bite to eat beforehand or get in on the action without actually going to the stadium.

XfinityLive!

Walking distance: 5 minutes
Xfinity Live isn’t so much a bar or restaurant as it is a complex. The space features more than 4,600 square feet of sports bar space with capacity for more than 3,000 people. And there are booths from Geno’s Steaks, Victory Brewing Beers, Lorenzo and Sons Pizza and more. If you can’t get tickets to the game, this is the next best alternative.

Casino Hotel

Walking distance: 13 minutes
So you’ve got a coveted box seat at the Linc and want to start the evening like a high roller? Stop by one of Live! Casino’s trendy restaurants before kickoff. Enjoy surf and turf at The Prime Rib, warm up with a pre-game bowl of noodles at Luk Fu, or enjoy beer and spicy boneless chicken wings before the game at Sports & Social. 900 Packer Avenue.

Gatehouse

Walking distance: 21 minutes
Bar food, but upscale; Gatehouse is the kind of hip and trendy bar you’d find in Center City, but it’s located in the Navy Yard. It’s an excellent choice for chicken wings (get the gochujang wings or the ones with Calabrian chili if you like it spicy), fruity cocktails, and burgers that are half-price on Mondays, perfect for kicking off a Monday night. 4503 South Broad Street.

Pizza Hut

Walking distance: 23 minutes
You are allowed to bring outside food into the Linc; just make sure it is wrapped in clear plastic. Pastificio’s offers a wide variety of hoagies. Spicy sopressata and capicola, classic Italian dishes, chicken cutlets and more. You are allowed to bring them all to the game; just make sure you wrap your sandwiches in plastic before entering the stadium. 1528 Packer Avenue.

Chickie’s & Pete’s

Walking distance: 23 minutes
Anyone who has ever attended a sports game in Philly knows that the line for crab fries can be long, but they are an essential part of any Philly sport, so skip the line and satisfy your appetite outside the stadium. 1526 Packer Avenue.

Oregon Steaks

Walking distance: 25 minutes
Whether you’re looking for Italian roast pork with provolone or a classic cheesesteak, Oregon Steaks is a favorite. It’s open 24 hours and a great place to go after the game, especially after you’ve had a few extra beers in overtime. 2654 South 10th Street.

Philadium Tavern

Walking distance: 27 minutes
With $10 cheesesteaks and $5 beers, this is the perfect place before, during (they’re on TV the whole time) and after the game. 1631 Packer Avenue.

KPOT

Walking distance: 27 minutes
There are few dining experiences as fun as a Korean hot pot. Here you can enjoy Korean beef bulgogi, spicy baby octopus and dumplings while watching the game on one of the many TVs that hang on nearly every wall of the restaurant. 330 Oregon Avenue.

Avenue Steaks & Pizza

Walking distance: 32 minutes
For reasonably priced cheesesteaks, pizza, burgers and fries, this place is a good choice. If you don’t want to wait in line at Chickie’s & Pete’s in the Linc (or pay those high prices), Avenue Steaks offers fries seasoned with Old Bay seasoning that are a pretty tasty substitute. 2655 South Juniper Street.

South House

Walking distance: 33 minutes
If you want to see what life is like down by the stadiums, head to SouthHouse. This neighborhood joint lives and breathes Philly sports year-round. Grab one of their sumptuous burgers and pair it with one of their five variations of the Citywide Special (we recommend the TNT made with tequila and Tecate). 2535 South 13th Street.
