Throughout, lime-plastered walls and ceilings contrast with wood and marble floors inlaid with mother of pearl and abalone. Ceiling cornices add a majestic touch. Wooden furniture in modern silhouettes is upholstered in luxurious fabrics; the rich colors of the plush materials are by Kosh Furnishing Studio. Lighting is by Jade Design House; in the living room, the chandelier is a dense cluster of lotus flowers in pink and gold. Rugs in asymmetrical shapes continue the bespoke details; their plush, thick pile is made from waste from the sari industry. A rug in the study features majestic elephants strolling. “It was designed by Vinita Chaitanya for Jaipur Rugs,” says Iesha. Other bespoke rugs are by Carpet Kingdom.

The bathrooms are a visual delight with their use of colour and detail. The green tiles in the powder room are patterned with large vertical fronds reminiscent of a haveli in Jaipur. The lower part of the walls bears another pattern defined by square borders, while the floor features a third pattern in black and white. All three together create a complex aesthetic. If you think all this is too much, take a look at the adjacent wall, which runs from floor to ceiling and features a mural depicting storks. It complements the finish and manages to sneak into the tile family without being an unwelcome outsider. The dull green palette is contrasted by a red counter that houses a copper-coloured sink. The entire composition is a lesson in how to create drama and make bold juxtapositions. Considering that powder rooms are meant to be used only briefly, this space should certainly invite users to linger and enjoy the visual delight on offer.
In the master bathroom, marble dominates the space with its dramatic veining. The den and guest bathroom, with black motifs on the tiles, exudes a more understated but classic feel. The ribbed shutters on the vanity fit the credo of attention to detail; the unexpected shade of ice green works—as does the mural in the powder room. The lotus flower pendant lamp is reminiscent of the lamps next to the bed in the room outside. The daughter’s bathroom is a more feminine space in pink with a blue mosaic panel with floral motifs behind the sink. The son’s bathroom is a masculine space in dark gray and tan with no frills.
