Chevrolet’s Equinox compact SUV with combustion engine receives a much-needed redesign for the 2025 model year and features a bold new look and a much more upscale interior.
The 2025 Equinox represents the first redesign of the nameplate since the 2018 model year.
The new Equinox sits at the heart of the compact SUV segment, starting at $31,080 for the base LT model and $35,480 for the nicer RS and Activ trim levels.
The more rugged-looking Activ model comes with 17-inch wheels and all-terrain tires, but that’s the extent of its off-road upgrades.
The Equinox’s standard powertrain is a 175-horsepower, 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder paired with a continuously variable automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard.
Opting for the $2,000 all-wheel-drive system adds an eight-speed automatic transmission and increases the engine’s torque from 184 to 203 pound-feet.
We expect both powertrains should get the Equinox to 60 mph in about 8.0 seconds.
The Equinox’s cabin has been significantly improved, featuring an attractive, modern dashboard design and nicer materials.
Highlights in the new Equinox’s cabin include a configurable 11.0-inch display for the driver and an 11.3-inch center touchscreen that runs General Motors’ latest Google-based infotainment system.
The new Equinox is broadly the same size as before, but is 2.3 inches wider.
