Tony Khan subtly makes fun of CM Punk in 2024 with a comment about the AEW locker room

Tony Khan subtly makes fun of CM Punk in 2024 with a comment about the AEW locker room

All In, AEW’s biggest premium live event, broke all records at London’s Wembley Stadium. The match card featured nine exciting championship matches. After the show, AEW President Tony Khan gave his opinion on the company’s third brand, Collision, amidst the media frenzy. Khan took a subtle dig at CM Punk.

CM Punk fronted Collision when the show first aired in 2023. The creation of the brand served to differentiate Punk from other stars with whom he had previously clashed behind the scenes.

However, Punk continued to have problems with other wrestlers despite forming Collision. It should also be noted that some wrestlers were reportedly sent home to avoid further conflict with the Straight Edge star.

While speaking at the All In Media Scrum, Tony Khan mentioned that it is now easier to run things backstage at Collision than it was a year ago. Khan may have been implying that the atmosphere in the locker room is better than last year due to CM Punk’s exit from AEW.

During the All-In press conference, he explained, “I really think it’s easier to do things behind the scenes on ‘Collision’ than it was a year ago. I think the transition between those two shows is easier than it was about a year ago.”

It is worth noting that CM Punk’s infamous backstage brawl with Jack Perry took place at last year’s All In event. Since then, not only has CM Punk revealed the details of the incident, but Tony Khan has also released the video footage of the fight.

It was reported that Punk felt provoked into arguing with Jack Perry after the latter mocked Punk for using real glass in a commercial, which Punk did not like. Ultimately, tensions led to a backstage altercation, where CM Punk even attacked Tony Khan for his alleged loss of control in the dressing room.

Be that as it may, two months after Punk left AEW, all hell froze over when he returned to WWE at the premium live event Survivor Series WarGames. The Second City Saint recently wrestled his first televised singles match in WWE in 10 years.

CM Punk is currently involved in a rivalry with Drew McIntyre. The duo will face each other in a sequel at the upcoming premium live event Bash in Berlin.
