Minatare horses provide great support in Lansing

LANSING, Michigan (WILX) – Make way, Budweiser Clydesdales.

Finn and Pirate, 20-year-old rescued miniature horses, drew quite a crowd on the campus of Lansing Community College.

The popular couple offered moral support to LCC students returning to school.

They come from Elevate: Equine Assisted Therapy in Saint Johns.

“These guys are really good at tuning into people’s emotions. They can take the stress out of you and give you a few minutes to relax. One person came by and said my mental health has improved dramatically. It’s crazy what a few minutes of petting from these guys can do. They can definitely make someone’s day,” said Addison Rogers of Elevate.

“It relaxed us all and made us more engaged with each other, especially after our encounter with the horse. We definitely had fun,” said student Sierra Ballard.

Elevate has miniature and full-size horses at its St. John’s location and helps people with disabilities such as ADHD, anxiety and autism build life skills.
