TELUS proudly joins the world’s leading AI players to advance the development and deployment of secure, trustworthy AI as part of the U.S. government’s new Security Institute

TORONTO, 22 August 2024 /PRNewswire/ – Today, TELUS announced that it has joined more than 280 leading artificial intelligence (AI) stakeholders to participate in a U.S. Department of Commerce initiative to support the development and deployment of trustworthy and secure AI – the first Canadian telecommunications company to do so. Founded by the Department of Commerce’s National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) To February 8, 2024To achieve this mission, the U.S. AI Safety Institute Consortium (AISIC) brings together AI developers and users, academics, government and industry researchers, and civil society organizations.

The consortium includes more than 280 Member companies and organizations that are at the forefront of developing and using AI systems, as well as civil society and academic teams that are developing the fundamental understanding of how AI can and will transform our society. These companies represent the country’s largest corporations and their innovative startups; developers of the world’s most advanced AI systems and hardware; key members of civil society and the academic community; and representatives of professions that are deeply engaged in the use of AI today. The consortium also includes state and local governments and nonprofit organizations. The consortium will also collaborate with organizations from likeminded countries that play a key role in setting interoperable and effective safety standards around the world.
