Experience local art at your pace

Take a trip through Boundary County next month and view the work of several local artists on a free, self-guided tour of some of the artists’ studios.

The inspiring beauty and nature of rural northern Idaho is a haven for artists of all mediums. Many of these artists do not display their work publicly and are some of Boundary County’s best-kept secrets. With the help of Tamara Wagner of Wood Thief Art and Hannah Sucsy of Teascarlet Fine Art, the public now has the opportunity to take a look inside the studios of these talented artists.

“Artist studio tours are a way for people to visit local artists and see the studios where they create their art,” Hannah Sucsy of Teascarlet Fine Art said of the studio tours. “It’s rewarding to learn about both the product and the process, and buying directly from the artist is rewarding for both parties.”

The Boundary County Artist Studio Tour will take place on September 14 and 15, both days from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The tour features 12 artists in 10 studios across the country whose work includes painting, textile art, sculpture, wood art, tattoo, photography, drawing and metal art. Some of the artists will demonstrate their processes.

For more information about the artist studio tour, visit teascarlet.com.

The website includes biographies of the artists involved, photographs, and a map of studio locations. If you need a printed copy, it is available at the Teascarlet Fine Art Gallery, 6389 Kootenai Street, Bonners Ferry.

The tour can start at any tour location and participants can choose any route. The travel time to all 10 locations is approximately two hours.

Sponsorships for the tour are also available.

“We have received sponsorship from individuals and businesses to make the tour a success. Several companies have expressed interest and enthusiasm in bringing this event to our community,” said Sucsy. “The tour costs include signage, advertising, tour brochure, website and promotion, as well as dozens of hours of planning and coordinating the details.”

If anyone would like to become a sponsor, sponsorship opportunities are available leading up to the tour. Sponsors will be listed on the tour website with their name or logo and mentioned on social media.

Sponsorships can be completed in person at the gallery or online.
