This month’s full moon was certainly a sight to behold!
On August 19, the Sturgeon Moon reached its peak and doubled as a rare super blue moon. Although it didn’t appear truly blue in the sky, it certainly looked larger and brighter than usual.
This is mainly because the full moon was slightly closer to Earth during its orbit. This intensifies the appearance and size of the moon, making it 14 percent larger and up to 30 percent brighter than a typical full moon.
Not only was it a rare event – the next one won’t happen until January 2037 – but it was also a huge spectacle.
