An arrest warrant has been posted on social media for actress Alicia Silverstone, as fans of the “Clueless” film star say she lives up to the name of her hit film after eating a piece of food that some believe is poisonous.

The alarm bell comes at a time when people have been waiting for hours for her to reappear on social media and confirm that nothing happened after she ate the mysterious fruit while strolling through the streets of London.

On August 19, Silverstone, 47, posted a video of herself tasting the small bite on TikTok and asked her followers to help her identify what she was eating.

“Okay, I discovered something and I can’t figure out what it is and I need your help,” she tells her followers in the 38-second clip.

“I just took a bite because I was on the street and we were debating whether it was a tomato or not,” the San Francisco native continued, pointing her camera at the plant. “It’s definitely not, because look at these leaves. Those are the leaves.”

The Golden Globe-nominated actress picked the fruit from a bush behind a wrought iron gate that she saw while strolling through the English city.

Silverstone then asked, “So what the hell is this? Because when you open it up, it looks like this,” as she pans to the floor after accidentally dropping one.

She then thinks that she probably shouldn’t eat it, but does so anyway, taking a small bite and comparing the taste to that of a bell pepper.

Still at a loss …she asks: “Does anyone know what this is? I don’t know. Someone has to tell me. I’m in England. OK, thanks.”

While some fans on her TikTok page and the X platform desperately tried to identify the plant, suspecting it might be a poisonous Jerusalem cherry or a “pepper tree,” others wondered why she ate it in the first place.

“Eating random stuff off of bushes that you don’t know what it is is a level of fearlessness I can only aspire to,” one person wrote sarcastically. Another joked, “She clearly has no clue.”

Others expressed concern for her well-being on social media.

Other people echoed her alarming news, writing: “It will definitely need an update, it can be deadly.”

Someone else wrote on X: “It’s already 9pm in England, a whole day has passed with no news on Alicia Silverstone after she ate a poisonous object that was behind the fence of a front garden in London.”

On a social network, the person who posted the clip posed as an uncertified botanist and actually identified the plant as a Jerusalem cherry. They provided a picture and a detailed note that said: “If consumed, the berries are fatal to humans and pets.”

The Northern New England Poison Center also states that eating the plant is β€œharmful.”

According to NNEPC, consuming a small amount of berries or leaves can cause symptoms such as nausea, vomiting or diarrhea, while ingesting a larger amount can cause drowsiness, hallucinations or heart rate problems.

The Children’s Physicians Medical Group also pointed out that the plant could be toxic to children and animals.

“The main poison is the alkaloid solanocapsin, which can cause stomach upset and vomiting in humans but is generally not life-threatening,” the website informs. “However, the fruit is extremely toxic to dogs, cats and some birds. The fruit is similar in both appearance and taste to a cherry tomato, so children and pets can eat enough of it to cause illness or, in the case of pets, even death.”

These sources do not confirm the X-user’s statements that the plant is deadly.

The person who wrote the post stated that they were actually a journalist and that they had contacted Silverstone representatives for an update.

“As a tough journalist, I contacted her representatives to find out if she was still alive. I can’t wait for my Pulitzer Prize,” he joked, adding that he had heard “nothing” from her contacts.

Luckily for fans, Alicia Silverstone eventually resurfaced on social media and gave fans an update. On August 20, at around 10pm London time, Silverstone posted a tweet that read: “Alive and well! Don’t worry… I didn’t swallow.”
