A small airline in Hawaii had to ground part of its fleet over the weekend after irregularities in the maintenance of an aircraft’s landing gear were discovered during routine maintenance.
Mokulele Airlines informed its customers in a letter on Saturday that the flight bans would continue from August 17 to at least August 20 as it works to correct the deficiencies identified.
Part of the airline’s letter states: “As part of our routine maintenance work, we have identified possible discrepancies in the documentation of a recent landing gear service on one of our aircraft. As a precautionary measure to maintain our rigorous safety standards, we have decided to temporarily ground affected aircraft in Hawaii while we conduct thorough inspections.”
Mokulele Airlines offers inter-island and charter flights from nine airports throughout Hawaii.
