John Patrick Barbieri, 84, of Ocala, Florida, passed away on August 14, 2024, at the Top of the World Community. John was born on May 11, 1940, in Queens, New York City, to Pasquale and Helen Barbieri.

He attended high school at John Adams in Jamaica, New York, graduating in 1958. He served honorably in the U.S. Army, graduating in 1962. He then earned his bachelor’s degree from CW POST College in West Berry, New York. As an entrepreneur, John started a company and sold polymer materials for 25 years, living the American dream and later becoming a sales manager for polymer materials until his retirement in 2013. John loved his family and friends, he had a curious, adventurous and generous spirit.

He especially enjoyed meeting new people, cooking and trying new dishes and great Italian wines, listening to Frank Sinatra, and working out daily. John was the life of every party and made everyone feel welcome. Anyone who knew John knew he was extremely friendly and always had a cheerful disposition. John was deeply patriotic. He served as a mentor to many in his professional life and was an honorary grandfather to many children who knew him over the years.

John is survived by his wife of 29 years, Bonnie Barbieri, and his daughters and their spouses, Gina, Tony, Laura, Brian and Jennifer from a previous marriage to Barbara. He is also survived by his stepchildren, Brian, Colette, Mike and Amy. His grandchildren, Cally, Casey, Corey, Carli, Benjami, Zachary and Samuel. His great-grandchildren, Whitley, Quinn and Maeve. Last but not least, he leaves behind Cooper, his Havanese.

A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, August 20, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at the Roberts Funeral Home, gathering for services at 11:00 a.m.
