Instagram model Maecee Marie blames party drugs and time travel for her fatal accident

An Instagram model appeared in court on Friday to face a felony charge after she was accused of causing a three-car crash in downtown Miami last weekend that left two people dead.

According to police, Maecee Marie Lathers was speeding on North Miami Avenue in a Mercedes-Benz sedan before 7 a.m. on Saturday, August 10. She allegedly ran a red light and collided with a black Range Rover.

Both vehicles then crashed into a Suzuki sedan carrying three people. A passenger in the back seat and the driver of the Suzuki both died.

Bystanders say Lathers, whose license has been suspended since January, attempted to walk away from the scene of the accident before police arrived, who grabbed her and took her back to the scene.

According to the police report read in court via Local 10, the 24-year-old told officers: “She stated that she was under the influence of Tusi, a known party drug, and that she came from the future and had a crystal ball.”

Instagram model charged with multiple crimes

In other words, the suspension of her driving license was not the only reason she should not have been driving. She was – allegedly – completely out of her mind.

Judge Mindy Glazer summed up the situation perfectly when she called Lathers an “absolute danger to the community.” Prosecutors argued for $500,000 bail, saying it was likely she would face additional charges.

“Based on the results of the toxicology exam, we will likely charge her with DUI manslaughter,” a prosecutor said in court. “Based on her statements and vomiting, it appears she was under the influence of controlled substances at the time of the incident.”

The judge ordered the Instagram model to be placed under house arrest on a reduced $140,000 bond. Lathers was also banned from driving.

“She is an absolute danger to the community for killing someone or driving when she shouldn’t be in a car, and from her statements, she is clearly impaired,” Glazer said. “And if the citizens or witnesses nearby hadn’t stopped her, she would have fled completely.”

If you want to do party drugs and think you’re from the future, that’s your business. But don’t get behind the wheel. If she really was from the future and had a crystal ball, she would have known that.
