SSI Schaefer, a provider of warehouse automation and cold chain storage solutions, has announced the results of its partnership with Noatum Logistics Middle East, an integrated regional end-to-end logistics services arm of Noatum, an AD Ports Group company that leads the group’s logistics cluster.
By using SSI ShepherdIncreasing storage capacity by over 90%, the partnership resulted in the largest installation of a mobile freezer shelving system in the UAE, part of AD Ports Group’s KLP21 storage facility in Khalifa Economic Zone Abu Dhabi (KEZAD).
In addition to increasing cooling capacity and storage density, the system has also been able to improve storage safety as it features numerous fail-safes and a state-of-the-art programmable logic controller (PLC) that allows for customized and automated control. With the increasing demand for pre-engineered, state-of-the-art cold storage facilities in KEZAD, the partnership meets a key need of new customers while accelerating business growth in the region and beyond.

A first collaboration to provide critical logistics infrastructure for vaccines in the pandemic era
The successful partnership between AD Ports Group and SSI Schäfer has existed for several years. The company chose ESX Mobile Racking for dry and deep-freeze storage with an area of over 8,000 square meters and 14,000 pallet spaces. Equipped with deep-freeze solutions and modern digital dashboards for precise environmental control, the solution enabled the storage of vaccines and medicines in a specified temperature range, even at temperatures as low as -25 °C.
