Spirit Airlines is undergoing a transformation. You may know the airline as a budget carrier. Many people who fly with the airline appreciate the company’s low ticket prices. The good news is that this isn’t going to change any time soon.
But Spirit is changing the way passengers can book their tickets. The current setup allows travelers to book airline tickets and pay extras like seat selection fees and baggage fees. These additional fees could quickly eat into your balance.
The airline recently announced that it will be offering bundled deals to make pricing more transparent. Some packages include premium perks that appeal to travelers who prefer a higher-end flight experience. Here’s what you need to know before flying with Spirit Airlines.
Introducing brand new packages (plus a no-package option)
Spirit will continue to offer low fares, but for passengers who want an upgraded experience at an affordable price, the airline also offers upgrade packages. These deals ensure that travelers get what they need at a transparent price.
Spirit will continue to offer flight-only bookings with its new Go product for those who prefer a no-frills experience. Go bookings are best for travelers who want an experience without any added amenities.
Starting August 16, 2024, travelers can book the following bundled experiences:
- Go: You get a ticket with no additional amenities. For an additional fee, you can add checked baggage, standard seat selection, Wi-Fi, or snacks and drinks.
- Play it safe: When booking, you will receive either one piece of carry-on baggage or one piece of checked baggage and standard seat selection.
- Make yourself comfortable: You are guaranteed a blocked middle seat, one piece of carry-on baggage, one piece of checked baggage, priority boarding, as well as a snack and a non-alcoholic beverage.
- Go all out: You get a Big Front Seat, snacks and drinks (including alcoholic beverages), one carry-on bag, one checked bag, priority check-in and boarding, and Wi-Fi access. A Big Front Seat offers wider seats, more legroom, extra padding, and no middle seat.
Some offers, such as unlimited snacks and drinks and priority boarding, will be available from August 27, 2024. However, bookings will begin on August 16, 2024.

Rebooking and cancellation fees no longer apply
This isn’t the only change Spirit has made in 2024. Earlier this year, the airline updated its policies and eliminated change and cancellation fees.
If you book a Spirit flight and need to cancel or change it, there will be no fees. You will only have to pay the difference in the fare when you rebook. This policy change is welcome news for busy travelers who want to avoid additional fees that drive up vacation costs.
Earn rewards when you travel
