Southampton Hospital Foundation Celebrates 66th Annual Summer Festival with Harlem’s Catsimatidis and Guests

An influential group of philanthropists, celebrities, medical leaders and supporters gathered under the iconic tents on Wickapogue Road in Southampton, NY.

The events commemorate the return of the Hamptons’ most anticipated fundraiser: the 66th Annual Hamptons Fundraiser.th Annual Summer Festival benefiting Stony Brook Southampton Hospital on Saturday, August 3rd2024.

This year’s gala, co-chaired by Elena A. Ford and Sarah J. Wetenhall, was themed “Embracing Our Heritage and Planning Our Future,” celebrating 66 years of raising vital funds to support health care from Westhampton to Montauk. Father Alexander Karloutsos and Dr. Daniel Van Arsdale were honored for their tireless commitment to the East End community. The evening was dedicated to the new leadership of Stony Brook Southampton Hospital, led by Chief Administrative Officer Emily Mastaler, the Southampton Hospital Foundation, led by President Julia McCormack, and the Southampton Hospital Association, chaired by Jim Forbes.

“Begun in 1958, this event is the longest-running charity event in the Hamptons,” Forbes noted. “Funds raised help support many programs we have developed and expanded over the years, including the Audrey and Martin Gruss Heart and Stroke Center, the Phillips Family Cancer Center, the Paulson Family Emergency Department and our soon-to-open East Hampton Emergency Department.”

The summer party kicked off with a festive cocktail hour where former American Idol star Christiaan Padavan entertained guests with lounge music while they enjoyed specialty cocktails, including The Macklowe’s Gold Fashioned, and snacked on light bites. After cocktails, guests headed to the stunning dinner tent where they enjoyed a lavish culinary experience curated by Elegant Affairs and paired with premium wines from main sponsor Wölffer Estate Vineyard. After dinner, star auctioneer Lydia Fenet captivated the audience during the Paddle Auction, which included the “Ultimate Palm Beach Experience,” a week-long stay at The Colony Hotel, as well as more pampering treatments in pink paradise and a 1:1 session with a makeup artist at Jones Road Beauty Palm Beach. A dessert bar and dancing to That 70s Band, New York’s premier dance, disco and funk group of the ’70s, rounded out the fun.

“I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to support the important mission of the Southampton Hospital Foundation through Summerfest. The generous contributions and unwavering support of our community made the evening a tremendous success,” said Wetenhall, who sits on the board of the Southampton Hospital Foundation. “Together, we celebrated our rich history while laying the foundation for a promising future of health care in the East End. It was a special honor to honor Father Alex Karloutsos and Dr. Daniel Van Arsdale for their remarkable work and dedication to our community. Thank you for being part of such a memorable and impactful evening.”

The commitment and generosity of our hospital’s supporters is truly inspiring,” added Ford, who sits on the board of the Southampton Hospital Association. “The funds raised will have a lasting impact and enable us to continue to provide exceptional care and innovative treatments. Rachael Zoe served as fashion representative, while Gregory D’Elia, Norah Lawlor and Lisa Tamburini served as public relations representatives. Nancy Stone served as corporate partnership representative.

For the décor, designer DeJuan Stroud was inspired by floral and animal-patterned textiles by Josef Frank, which he combined with mid-century design elements presented under classic Sperry tents with light and sound by Luminous Design.

The Southampton Hospital Foundation, Inc., a separate nonprofit corporation with an independent Board of Trustees, supports Stony Brook Southampton Hospital’s mission to provide health care services and expand clinical programs to meet the needs of the community. Stony Brook Southampton Hospital (SBSH) has 124 beds and employs more than 280 physicians, dentists and other health care professionals from 48 medical specialties. SBSH offers a broad range of clinical services from primary care to specialty surgical procedures, including cardiac catheterization, orthopedics and bariatric surgery. Stony Brook Southampton Hospital is the only provider of emergency care on the South Fork of Long Island and is a Level III trauma center. The hospital includes the Phillips Family Cancer Center, a Heart and Stroke Center, a Breast Health Center, the Center for Advanced Wound Healing, the Wellness Institute and 32 satellite care centers throughout the South Fork of Long Island. With more than 1,200 employees, the hospital is the largest employer on the South Fork.
