AI editing tool for Google Photos is available to all users

Google Photos users will soon be able to modify their snapshots using artificial intelligence without having to take out a subscription, the Internet giant said.

Magic Editor will be rolled out gradually over the course of this year to be accessible to all Pixel device users.

The tools offered, such as Magic Eraser, Photo Defuser and Portrait Light, are currently available to everyone, but a subscription is required.

Google announced Thursday that the changes will take effect on May 15, the day after its annual developer conference, and will be phased in from there.

“With the right editing tools, your photos can really shine,” Google said in a statement.

“Google Photos offers several features that you can use to enhance your images even without professional photo editing skills. For example, you can remove distracting elements in the background or smooth out a blurry shot. And now we’re making these features available to even more people.”

Last year, Google introduced the Magic Editor on Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro – both tools that users found handy for quickly editing their photos.

You can move subjects and even change the color of the sky. You can also stitch multiple photos together to combine the best elements of all the images you took.

“Look out for the Google Photos upgrade to help you perfect your shots,” Google’s statement continues.

Google added that all Google Photos users on Android and iOS get 10 Magic Editor saves per month. There are expansion packs that can be purchased or purchased to exceed this limit – such as Google One’s premium pack, which includes 2TB of storage.
