Suryakumar Yadav, captain of the Indian national T20I cricket team, is enjoying his time away from cricket. The batsman performed at the home ground of baseball team New York Yankees and also received a special custom-made jersey.
Suryakumar Yadav is spending quality time with his family. This happened after the Indian national cricket team under his leadership won the three-match series against the Sri Lanka national cricket team 3-0 at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Pallekele.
This was Suryakumar Yadav’s first outing as the full-time captain of the T20I team and he made sure that he started his captaincy with flying colours. The right-hander looked extremely cool and calm as the captain of the team and ensured that he got the best out of his team.
Suryakumar Yadav led the series from the beginning and played brilliantly to help his team to a 3-0 victory. Along with his batting heroics, he also performed superbly with the ball. In the third game, he bowled the last over and defended the target to help his team to victory.
Suryakumar Yadav took two wickets in the last over and thanks to his sensational performance, the match between the Indian national cricket team and the Sri Lanka national cricket team ended in a draw. The winners of the 2024 T20 World Cup then won the Super Over and secured a 3-0 victory for the team.
Suryakumar Yadav named India’s T20I captain
Suryakumar Yadav was named the full-time captain of the Indian national cricket team after Rohit Sharma retired from the format after the T20 World Cup 2024. The team needed a captain and he received the support of head coach Gautam Gambhir and chief selector Ajit Agarkar.
Suryakumar Yadav has overtaken Hardik Pandya and taken over the role of captain of the team. This came as a big surprise to many as the all-rounder was already supposed to be the captain of the team as the vice-captain of the T20 World Cup 2024. Also, Hardik was seen as a future leader as he was the captain of the team when the seniors took a break after the 2022 T20 World Cup.
When asked about Hardik Pandya’s rejection as captain, chief selector Ajit Agarkar replied that Hardik Pandya’s injury history and workload were the main reasons for him not being chosen as captain.

Suryakumar Yadav is considered a potential captain of the Indian national cricket team for the 2026 T20 World Cup. The right-hander wants to continue Rohit Sharma’s legacy, help the team win the tournament and write his name in the record books.
