Topeka Zoo receives generous donation for future master plan project

TOPEKA, Kansas (WIBW) – The Topeka Zoo & Conservation received a generous donation for its future master plan project.

On Wednesday, August 14, Topeka Zoo officials announced a transformative gift from the Lumpkin Family Trust dedicated to the Grayson Goodwin Lumpkin Barn that will support the Zoo’s master plan project. This generous gift will enable the Zoo to introduce new animals, create fun play areas, and offer innovative learning opportunities with a focus on conservation and environmental stewardship.

Topeka Zoo officials said the upcoming project is designed to appeal to visitors of all ages, especially the young at heart, and will transform the heart of the zoo. Through interactive play, engaging learning experiences and immersive exploration, the Topeka Zoo will become a dynamic platform for children and families to deepen their appreciation for nature and the importance of conservation.

“We are deeply grateful to the Lumpkin Family Trust for their generous donation,” said Jannett Wiens, Major Gifts Officer. “Their support inspires others to do something meaningful. As the Topeka Zoo continues to evolve, the impact of this donation will be felt for generations to come. We can’t wait to pass on the inspiration, vision and dream that this project embodies!”

Topeka Zoo officials said they look forward to sharing more details about this exciting master plan project in the coming months. Stay tuned for further updates and join us in celebrating this remarkable step toward a vibrant and sustainable future.
