He then thanked fans for their support, adding: “This show has a really nice fan base. Really nice, family-oriented people who are really into it.”

He also received messages from previous Taskmaster contestants, including former winner Josh Widdicombe, who said: “John, you were absolutely brilliant on Taskmaster. Your creativity and humour was a joy to watch. Congratulations on a well-deserved win!”

Season 17 may have just ended, but Alex Horne and Greg Davies already have the next group of celebrity contestants on their list.

Andy Zaltzman, Babatunde Aléshé, Emma Sidi, Jack Dee and Rosie Jones will be put through their paces when the show returns.

Dee’s casting will particularly delight Horne, who previously said Digital Spy that Dee was his dream candidate.

“I say that every time someone asks me that question. I think that’s the only way to convince them. So, Jack, if you’re listening, please do the show,” he told us.

Breeder Season 18 will air later this year on Channel 4.
