The new store, located at 27 E Broad Street in Westfield, is owned and operated by Reginald and MaryAnn StaRosa, a Fanwood-based entrepreneur couple who are confident the concept will work well in the health-conscious Union County community.
Founded 20 years ago in Colorado, Rush Bowls offers customizable mixed bowls of fruits and vegetables made with natural ingredients, as well as smoothies, grab-and-go protein bites and special dog treats with bananas, peanut butter, milk and frozen yogurt.
The StaRosas told TapInto Westfield that they explored many franchises before settling on Rush Bowls, a chain they discovered in Florida.
Rush Bowls not only offers “low-calorie and clean eating without the guilt,” but is also “a sustainable and environmentally friendly option,” the duo said.
After introducing franchise opportunities in 2016, the brand has grown to 51 restaurants across the country. Even during the pandemic, Rush Bowls says it has seen continued growth as it has been able to meet consumer demand for healthy, grab-and-go meals.
The company, which was named one of QSR magazine’s leading emerging franchises in 2021, said it currently has more than 100 additional locations in development in two dozen new markets.
Locally, Rush Bowls opened two more locations in New Jersey last year – Lodi and Livingston. Both stores are franchised by Joseph and Joe Treanor, a father-son team from Bergen County.
In addition to limited indoor seating, Rush Bowls in Westfield offers pickup and delivery options, including online ordering through the brand’s mobile app. Catering options are also available.
Opening hours are Monday to Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Thursday to Saturday from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sundays from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
