Hoda Kotb receives a surprise from her daughters for her 60th birthday

Hoda Kotb has today off from Today Show to celebrate her 60th birthday, and the special occasion began this morning with a surprise for her two daughters, Haley Joy, 7, and Hope Catherine, 5.

On Friday, August 9, Kotb shared a gallery of photos on Instagram of herself and her family celebrating her birthday. The first image shows an excited Kotb unwrapping presents as her daughters look on. In another snap, one of the host’s daughters can be seen setting up balloons in the dining room, while in another, the girls hug their grandmother, Kotb’s mother, Sameha Kotb.

The last photo is a photo of the whole family, including Kotb’s younger brother Adel, all posing for the camera in front of a “Happy Birthday” banner.

“Great birthday morning!! I’m lucky xoxoxo,” the longtime NBC co-host wrote in her caption.

Kotb and her ex-husband Joel Schiffman announced on Today reveal in 2017 that they had adopted a little girl named Haley Joy. Then, in April 2019, Kotb called Today to announce that she had adopted a second little girl named Hope Catherine. Kotb and Schiffman separated in 2022.

On Thursday, August 8, Kotb posted a video on Instagram of her return home from the Paris Olympics. In the clip, Kotb is given a warm hug by her two girls, who run to the front door to greet her.

Kotb was in Paris to cover the Summer Olympics. Todaywhere she interviewed personalities such as multiple gold medalist in gymnastics Simone Biles and silver medalist in cross-country mountain biking Haley Batten.

During her interview with Batten, Kotb said, “My daughter Haley was so happy that someone named Haley won. She said, ‘Mommy, mommy! Haley won!’ I said, ‘Yes, she did!'”

The official Today The X-Account also wished Kotb a happy birthday and provided some timely quotes from the morning show co-host.

“My 50s were my best years, and I imagine my 60s will be even better because my 50s were my best,” Kotb said. “Blessings come when they come. You don’t have a choice. In my 50s, I had my kids, I got the job I dreamed of, I found out who I was. I finally feel 100% myself.”
