Direct flights to New Orleans now available from New Haven via Avelo Airlines

Avelo Airlines is expanding at Tweed-New Haven Airport, adding a nonstop route to New Orleans, doubling flights to Puerto Rico and increasing fleet capacity this winter.

Avelo Airlines today unveiled an expansion at Tweed-New Haven Airport (HVN) in Southern Connecticut, adding direct service to New Orleans, Louisiana. In addition, the airline plans to double its winter flights to Puerto Rico and increase capacity at Tweed by adding more Boeing Next Generation 737-800 aircraft to its fleet. Tweed-New Haven Airport (HVN) welcomes the new Avelo route to New Orleans:

Beginning November 14, Avelo Airlines will offer nonstop flights between Tweed-New Haven Airport (HVN) and Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (MSY) on Thursdays and Sundays. Offering a vibrant mix of food, culture and nightly live music, New Orleans is known for its jazz and brass bands, Creole cuisine, unique dialects and the famous Mardi Gras festival. The French Quarter, known for its French and Spanish Creole architecture, is the historic center of the city and offers ghost tours, vibrant nightlife and the iconic Bourbon Street.

Avelo improves flights to Puerto Rico:

Starting November 8, Avelo will increase its flight frequency to San Juan, Puerto Rico, via Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport (SJU), offering four weekly flights on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

Fleet and performance expansion at HVN:

This November, Avelo will reinforce its fleet at HVN with additional Boeing Next Generation 737-800s, effectively doubling its large aircraft count to increase customer capacity over the winter. HVN hosts eight of Avelo’s aircraft, representing a significant portion of the company’s total fleet. New Haven is Avelo’s largest base, employing over 250 crew members and serving 27 nonstop destinations. Since its inception at HVN in November 2021, Avelo has carried over 2.4 million customers on more than 18,000 flights.
