When it comes to the Cowboys for the 2024 season, coaches and the media are almost unanimous.
Oklahoma State is ranked 17th nationally, according to the AP preseason poll released Monday. The Cowboys are ranked 18th nationally, according to last week’s coaches poll.
Where the two polls differ, however, is the order of the Big 12. Both have Utah as the best team in the conference — the media has the Utes at No. 12 and the coaches at No. 13. But the coaches poll has Kansas State as the next team, but the media gives the Pokes second place in the Big 12. It’s close no matter how you spin it. Kansas State is No. 17 in the coaches poll and No. 18 in the media poll. OSU is the opposite of that.
Here is a look at both polls verbatim:

As for the rest of the Big 12, the AP poll is similar to the coaches poll. Arizona is the fourth conference school, with the Wildcats ranked 21st in both polls. Kansas actually moved up two spots in the AP poll compared to the Jayhawks in the coaches poll, who were ranked 22nd and 24th, respectively.
Iowa State, West Virginia and Colorado were all in the vote-getter category of the AP poll. The Cyclones would be ranked 30th in an expanded poll, the Mountaineers 33rd and the Buffaloes 42nd.
