Residents and visitors flock to Orleans Police’s annual street festival

ORLEANS – Main Street is one of the main thoroughfares in downtown, but for a few hours last week, the noise of passing cars was replaced by music, fellowship and laughter.

The Orleans Police Department has been hosting its annual street festival for over 20 years to come together with residents and visitors and kick off the summer in style. On August 21, people filled Main Street between Route 6A and Route 28 to purchase hamburgers, hot dogs and drinks and to visit the various vendors and community members who were there.

One of the biggest attractions were the vintage cars that lined the end of Main Street toward Route 28. Emergency vehicles such as fire trucks, SWAT vehicles and police motorcycles were also a big hit, especially with the event’s youngest visitors. Even the rescue boat CG36500 was on display.
