Veteran East End artist John Melillo continues to find solace in his PTSD through art and healing. Life Goes On Part 4, an art and video exhibition, is a continuation of his tribute to his dog King, who he worked with in Vietnam and who not only saved his life but was also very close to him.

“Over 50 years later, I think of him every day. Supporting organizations like Paws of War that rescue and place service dogs with veterans and first responders is another tribute and demonstration of the importance of dogs and animals, as well as a tribute to King’s memory,” Melillo said.

Featured will be a series of Melillo’s new East End paintings that will take you on an adventure. There will also be a video premiere where the cameras will follow Melillo as he visits the organizations and learns more about their synergy, how they all find solace for PTSD and do good for others. Many of Melillo’s “East End” paintings were inspired by his perspective while growing up in historic Southampton, Water Mill and Sagaponack, where his roots date back to the 1890s. “Getting to know the East End around 1950 was a great source of inspiration and the creation of my current paintings,” said Melillo.

An opening reception will be held on Thursday, August 15th from 4-7 p.m. The show will conclude on Sunday, August 25th with the Pal-O-Mine Equestrian Military Programs from 1-4 p.m.
