Don Gorske eats an average of two Big Macs a day. The problem is that now he sometimes doesn’t enjoy them.

The 57-year-old Wisconsin resident will eat his 25,000th McDonald’s burger on May 17, exactly 39 years after he first tried a Big Mac in 1972.

Gorske, who suffers from obsessive compulsive disorder, has kept receipts for every Big Mac he has ever bought and owns 10,000 Big Mac cartons. He also always carries two Big Macs in his luggage in case he can’t find a McDonald’s.

Amazingly, he is in excellent health, slim, and has a cholesterol level of just 156 mg/dL (milligrams per deciliter). The average cholesterol level for men over 50 is 208 mg/dL.

However, the sensitivity of his taste buds has fluctuated since birth, so he is often unable to taste his favorite foods.

“A person like me doesn’t change too much,” Gorske told reporters in Fond du Lac. “It’s basically two Big Macs a day. If I can travel to sporting events, I like to take my Big Mac with me.”

Gorske estimates that he consumed well over 200,000 Coca-Colas with his burgers.
In 2008, Guinness confirmed that Gorske had indeed eaten the most Big Macs ever – 23,000.

Now that he’s reached the 25,000 mark, Gorske plans to host a special gathering with family and friends to celebrate the milestone, which will also be his retirement from Waupun Correctional Institution, where he worked for 25 years.

“I think 25,000 is a pretty impressive number,” he said. “I’ll never live long enough to eat 50,000.”
