“Nadeem is also very proud of his roots and despite the success, his village is still his home and he still lives with his parents and brothers,” Nawaz said, PTI reported.

Hailing Nadeem married Ayesha, the youngest daughter of Nawaz, and the couple has two children, a son and a daughter.

“When we decided to marry our daughter to Nadeem six years ago, he was doing small jobs and running errands but was extremely passionate about his sport and was constantly practicing javelin throwing at home and in the field,” Nawaz said.

Nadeem, 27, ended his country’s medal drought at the Olympics by claiming its first medal in 32 years. He won the gold medal in the men’s javelin with a massive throw of 92.97m, breaking the Olympic record that stood for 16 years. He defeated his rival Neeraj Chopra, the reigning Tokyo Olympic champion, for the first time in their 10 meetings. Chopra settled for silver with his best throw of 89.45m.
