If you went to bed early last night, you’ll probably wake up to see a ton of Disney announcements about the parks, cruises, and more.
Disney’s Parks and Experience panel titled “Horizons” last night gave us some GREAT reveals about new rides and experiences coming to Disney World, Disneyland, the international parks and Disney Cruise Line. We also learned a little more about the Disney Treasure, one of Disney’s new ships, as well as her Vaiana – The wonderful world of love show. Disney has also released new concept art for this show.
Disney previously released some concept art for the show, titled “Disney The Tale of Moana.” The show will feature sets inspired by the Pacific Islands and their culture and will “immerse audiences in a transformative adventure on land and sea.”
This is the first-ever stage adaptation of Moana’s story and begins with the ghost of Gramma Tala introducing Moana and narrating the show. It will be a new retelling of Moana’s adventures in the first Vaiana – The wonderful world of love Film about how she embarks on a journey across the ocean to restore the heart of Te Fiti.
Jeff Conover, creative director of puppetry and articulation for Disney Live Entertainment, is working with master puppet designer Michael Kurry to create some impressive puppets for the show, including a 15-foot-tall fiery Te Kā puppet that will shed its skin and become Te Fiti when Moana restores her heart. We now have new concept image showing us this fiery doll.
The Disney Treasure will set off on its maiden voyage in December 2024 with itineraries that include a series of seven-day cruises to the Eastern and Western Caribbean from Port Canaveral, Florida. The new Vaiana – The wonderful world of love The show premieres on the ship’s first departure, so if you want to see it, you’d better book the cruise now.
