Green Bay Packers' new defense wants to attract attention from the NFL

The Green Bay Packers’ newly formed defense has made waves in training camp so far and is looking to attract attention from the NFL.

This new approach includes reinforcements for the defense through free agents and the draft that should take the whole thing to the next level.

Cornerback Eric Stokes spoke with Seehafer News and shared his thoughts on the new additions and how he assesses the defense after the offseason, saying: “We’re top-notch, we’re top-notch, man. We’re the best in the world and we’re trying to be the best we can be.”

He added: “We know we have an elite group behind us and we will measure ourselves against that standard.”

Green Bay used four of its first six picks in this year’s draft on defensive players.

This included safety Javon Bullard from Georgia.

Stokes, a fellow Georgia Bulldogs player himself, also mentioned how excited he was to have another Bulldog joining him and Quay Walker on defense.

In addition, Green Bay signed safety Xavier McKinney, a young and physically strong player who will back up Stokes’ claim that he is “the best in the world” in this impressive group of defensive backs.

Stokes had great confidence in this group but did not let that overshadow the hard work they have to do to achieve their goals this season.

He noted: “We must not become complacent, and we must not fall asleep doing the same thing over and over again.”

He continued: “You have to fall in love with the work and everything else. Then everything else will fall into place.”

Another change for this defense came when former defensive coordinator Joe Barry was fired on January 24th.th beginning of the year.

A week later, his successor, Jeff Hafley, was announced by the team.

Hafley brings more changes for the upcoming season, applying the 4-3 scheme he used as head coach of Boston College.

The Packers have used a 3-4 defensive system since 2009, but with new players, a new coordinator, and a new system, the Packers defense looks to be taking the league by storm this season.
