NBA transfer rumors: A first look at what teams can do if they get off to a rocky start before the 2025 NBA transfer deadline.
The busiest part of the NBA offseason is over, the Olympics are set, and the league’s schedule for the 2024-25 season is about to be released. With hopes across the league at an all-time high, it’s only natural that people are now looking ahead to the new season.
We’re doing just that, but with a little surprise. We’re going team by team, examining a transfer deadline candidate who could be on every team’s radar next season.
Target for the 2025 trade deadline: Brandon Ingram
It’s pretty interesting that the Atlanta Hawks have decided to keep Trae Young on the roster. After several months of nonstop transfer rumors surrounding Young, it seemed almost a foregone conclusion that he would be traded at some point in the offseason. That hasn’t really happened so far this summer. That could still change, but at this point, it would almost be a bigger surprise. If this is a sign that the Hawks are focusing on restructuring rather than rebuilding, perhaps it could lead the team to make a pretty bold move at the NBA transfer deadline – one that could involve the team making a move for Brandon Ingram.
With Ingram being a player who is very much on the transfer list, a move for Ingram could allow the Hawks to rebuild around Young and rejuvenate the team. When you factor in the fact that the team’s No. 1 pick, Zaccharie Risacher, is likely not ready to start, this deal would make even more sense.
But that doesn’t mean this is the best path for the Hawks.
