While (most) Americans slept, the marathon took place on the final day of the 2024 Paris Olympics. Runners ran 26.2 miles through the City of Lights, passing some of its most famous backdrops. Ethiopia’s Sifan Hassan came first, setting a new Olympic record with a time of 2:22.55. Hassan pulled off an incredible triple victory at this year’s Olympics, winning bronze medals in the 10K and 5K in addition to her gold medal in the marathon.

The marathon runners passed historic sites such as the Louvre, the Eiffel Tower, Place de la Concorde and more. Here are some of the most beautiful landscape shots from the morning run.
