BAFTA TV Tea Party returns to Los Angeles after four-year hiatus

Four years later, our friends from across the pond are back in Los Angeles with the return of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts’ TV Tea Party.

On Thursday, BAFTA announced that the standalone event will return after a four-year hiatus on September 14 at The Maybourne Beverly Hills, followed by the first-ever New York Tea Party on October 6 at The Pierre, during the New York Film Festival.

“We are delighted to bring back the TV Tea Party, which has always been a highlight for our community,” said Joyce Pierpoline, chair of BAFTA North America, in a statement. “We look forward to celebrating the crossover success of BAFTA TV Award talent with U.S. audiences and reaffirming our commitment to inspiring and elevating the television industry.”

“The addition of New York Tea marks an exciting new chapter for us as we continue to expand our work and presence and nurture our community,” added Pierpoline.

The BAFTA TV Tea Party has been cancelled in previous years due to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 and 2021, the death of Queen Elizabeth II in 2022, and the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes last year, which led to the delay of the 75th Primetime Emmy Awards.

The TV Tea Party celebrates excellence in television, bringing together industry experts, creatives and talent from the UK, US and beyond. The event also aims to raise awareness of BAFTA North America’s Learning, Inclusion and Talent programs, which provide industry-leading mentorship, training and financial aid to local communities, underserved students and emerging artists.

The new East Coast event will spotlight emerging talent and celebrate groundbreaking film and television productions in New York City’s vibrant cultural hub.
