Nebraska AG issues warning after recall of Diamond Shruumz products

LINCOLN, Nebraska (KOLN) – The Nebraska Attorney General’s Office is issuing an alert to retailers and consumers regarding the Food and Drug Administration’s recall of Diamond Shruumz products.

The FDA has recalled all Diamond Shruumz Microdosing Chocolate Bars, Infused Cones, and Micro-Dose and Mega-Dose/Extreme Gummies. Prophet Premium Blends, the product manufacturer and brand owner, is cooperating with the ordered recall.

The public is advised not to eat, sell or serve any flavor of Diamond Shruumz chocolate bars, bags or gummies and to discard all products.

The Nebraska Attorney General’s Office has informed local companies of their obligation to comply with the recall and inform the public about it.

In June, the FDA and CDC, in collaboration with U.S. Poison Control Centers and state and local partners, investigated a number of illnesses associated with consumption of Diamond Shruumz brand chocolate bars, wafers, and gummy bears. As of August, a total of 113 illnesses, 42 hospitalizations, and two possibly related deaths had been reported following consumption of these products.

According to the FDA, manufacturers believe that the products are contaminated or contain ingredients or dosages that are not listed on the label.

Consumers are advised not to take Diamond Shruumz products.

If you have taken this product before, you should contact your doctor and inform him or her that you recently consumed a recalled Diamond Shruumz brand product. If you have become ill from taking these products, contact your doctor and/or call the Poison Control Center at 1-800-222-1222.

Unused Diamond Shruumz products should be discarded or returned to the manufacturer. Prophet Premium Blends is committed to refunding consumers who have purchased Diamond Shruumz products.

Diamond Shruumz products may be returned for a full refund to the address listed below. If you have any questions about the return process or need assistance, please contact Prophet Premium Blends at (209) 314-0881 between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

For retailers, Hilgers said all Diamond Shruumz products should be removed from shelves immediately. Retailers should contact customers who have purchased the product as much as possible and advise them not to ingest it. Due to the contaminated nature of these products, any product that has been mixed with or otherwise come into contact with Diamond Shruumz products should be quarantined and discarded.

Retailers in Nebraska are also eligible for a refund. They should contact their sales representative to initiate the return and refund.

The Attorney General is urging all retailers, distributors and wholesalers in Nebraska to stop distributing, selling and marketing Diamond Shruumz products or face legal consequences.

The Attorney General also recommends that companies share information about this recall through their consumer channels.

If you discover that Diamond Shruumz products continue to be sold in Nebraska, you are asked to report these unlawful sales to the Attorney General’s Office at ProtectTheGoodLife.Nebraska.gov in addition to the FDA.

To report an unlawful sale or adverse event to FDA, you may:

  • Call the Poison Center at 1-800-222-1222.
  • Call an FDA consumer complaint coordinator if you would like to speak directly with a person about your problem.
  • Complete an electronic voluntary MedWatch form online.
  • Complete a voluntary paper MedWatch form to send to FDA.
