In an Instagram post on August 23, Tavia Hunt shared a series of photos from her youngest daughter Ava Hunt’s dorm room at Southern Methodist University, which underwent extensive renovations.

Accompanying photos of her daughter’s beautiful dorm room, Tavia Hunt wrote a heartfelt message reflecting on the moment she dropped her youngest child off at college.

She and Clark Hunt also have a daughter, Gracie Hunt, 25, and a son, Knobel Hunt, 22.

“Today I left a piece of my heart at SMU,” the mother of three wrote in the caption. “Ava Hunt, you have always been a mix of sunshine and hurricane – wild, fearless and capable of incredible things. I am so happy for you, even though I am saving my tears for later.”

Tavia Hunt described her feelings about her daughter no longer being home. She wrote that without her laughter and the scent of her favorite perfume, “the house is too quiet.”

“I know you will return often and that this will be a new adventure and freedom for both of us…but I pray for your safety, your wisdom and a tribe of new sisters who love Jesus and you,” she added. “May God bless you and watch over you – He has never let me down and He will never let you down.”

Tavia Hunt expressed excitement for her daughter to have new experiences and learn new lessons as she begins her college life, adding, “Watching you shine your light and grow into the most beautiful version of yourself makes my heart beat a little happier.”

“You’ve worked so hard to get here,” she wrote. “Everything you do from now on, do it for yourself – for your success, your happiness and God’s glory.”

Tavia Hunt ended her caption on a touching note, offering advice and a note to her daughter, writing, “Take care of yourself. Sleep well. Trust in yourself. And don’t forget, mom and dad are ALWAYS here if you need us.”

Tavia Hunt’s post touched other parents, both because of the emotional moment of dropping their child off at college and because of the stunning dorm room decor.

“I love all the decor!!! I missed all of this with 3 boys!” wrote one commenter on Instagram. “I dropped my son off at his dorm 2 weeks ago and was lucky he let me buy him a nice comforter!”

Another Instagram user said it was the “best dorm room” he’d ever seen, adding, “Love it guys!!! Ava congratulations have the best time and call your mommy… often.”

“I can’t imagine dropping my baby off at college!” wrote one commenter, adding, “Your decor is so cute!!!!”

One user wrote: “Probably the cutest dorm room ever!!”

“Fabulous room ladies,” wrote another commenter. “Tough moments for parents in kindergarten and college.”

Even Ava Hunt commented on her mother’s post, writing in the comments: “I’m not crying, you’re crying.”
