English Dub Review: Level 1 Demon Lord and One Room Hero “Beware the Glasses Girl”

English Dub Review: Level 1 Demon Lord and One Room Hero “Beware the Glasses Girl”

overview

What exactly does a retired hero do all day? The demon lord is on the case! But Zenia isn’t happy that her boss is still wandering around the human world…

Our opinion

Curious about Max’s daily activities, the Demon Lord disguises herself as a voluptuous schoolgirl and follows him everywhere. To his disappointment, Max spends his days drinking and playing with the local children. When some thugs start beating Max and he refuses to fight back, the Demon Lord intervenes and puts them to sleep, gaining reluctant respect for Max’s self-control. Meanwhile, Zenia, the Demon Lord’s servant, tracks him down after his three-day absence, but is confused by the Demon Lord’s efforts to help Max. After deciding that killing Max is the best thing to do, Zenia attacks him, but is quickly defeated.

Despite being drenched in sweat, Zenia takes a shower in Max’s apartment while the demon lord goes shopping. After accidentally getting drunk, Zenia attacks Max again, resulting in a chaotic fight that spills outside. Before the situation escalates, Zenia is arrested for public nudity, but Max manages to clear things up with the police. Instead of leaving, Zenia decides to rent the apartment next door, much to Max’s annoyance. Meanwhile, Fred, a former party member of Max’s, becomes suspicious after seeing footage of Zenia’s naked rampage and questions Max’s connection to a demon.

Overall, this episode continues to deliver comedic elements, even if the pacing seems a little uneven. The interactions between Max, the Demon Lord, and Zenia add to the satire, with the Demon Lord’s obsession with Max leading to increasingly crazy situations. While the show doesn’t take itself too seriously, the growing bond between Max and the Demon Lord adds an extra depth to the humor, and I hope it continues, because it’s certainly not boring.
