Country music star seeks divorce just days after wedding ceremony, estranged wife says

ATLANTA, Georgia – The divorced wife of Zac Brown, one of country music’s most popular stars, says in a social media post that Brown asked her for a divorce just days after they shared a wedding reception.

Kelly Yazdi’s post comes just months after Brown filed a lawsuit seeking a temporary restraining order to force Yazdi to delete an Instagram post that he said involved him and violated a confidentiality agreement.

But Yazdi says in the Tik Tok post she wanted to give an update on her side of the story, despite being “afraid to post anything” for legal reasons. She describes the ongoing divorce as a “very painful experience” and says the couple were “happily together for years” before the split.

“We held our private wedding reception with our family and friends in Nashville last November, and nine days after our wedding reception, Zac unexpectedly told me over Zoom that he wanted a divorce,” Yazdi says in the post. The couple married in August.

“After he told me he wanted a divorce, I refused to sign a non-disclosure agreement that would have essentially prohibited me from talking about my life or my relationship with Zac for the rest of my life,” she says. “And after I refused to sign that lifetime non-disclosure agreement, Zac filed for divorce in January and a few weeks later I was fired from my position as executive vice president of his company.”

She accuses Brown of using “altered” video footage of the wedding without her consent for “commercial purposes” and to “degrade my integrity.” She also says Brown sued her over a poem she published and tried to stop her from publishing more poems.

Yazdi says she sued Brown for using parts of the wedding shower video in Brown’s music video for “Beautiful Drug.” She says the music video also features a model who looks like her engaging in “risky behavior” such as drug use.

“I was devastated to see that my private wedding video had been edited to portray me in a false light,” she said.

Yazdi says she will “continue to stand up for herself” during her controversial separation from her husband.

Brown reportedly did not respond to Yazdi’s post. The frontman of the Zac Brown Band has won three Grammy awards. The band has made touring a focus since 2012 and performs across North America every year, according to Billboard. 22 of the band’s songs have made it onto the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
