Costco has done it again! At least that’s what the Instagram page of the same name, dedicated to finding great deals at retailers that are only available to members, thinks about this new Olive green Costco Storage sofa. The sofa has gone viral on sites like @costco_doesitagain because of its secret superpower – hidden storage beneath the seat cushions that you’d never suspect is there.
The reason we (and other Costco shoppers) are so excited: Sofas with storage usually don’t look that good. At least, even the best sofas with storage tend to be bulky models that don’t stand on legs like this Thomasville Mokena sofa.
“In my experience, there are hardly any sofas with storage that don’t reach to the floor. That’s why a sofa with raised legs always catches my eye,” says Brigid Kennedy, style editor and Housing etc.‘s local sofa expert. “This one gives away its storage secret better than most, so you actually get two bonus compartments for your living room stuff without any aesthetic drawbacks.”

The one area that is often compromised by incorporating storage into a sofa is comfort – after all, the composition of your sofa changes when you incorporate storage into the design. “You might find that the cushions are less thick on a storage sofa, or that the foam needs to be a little firmer to maintain the structure so that the opening mechanisms work properly,” adds Brigid.
This is confirmed by one reviewer of the couch on Instagram, who, while not complaining about the sofa after just a week, notes on Instagram: “It’s on the firm side, but not uncomfortable (and) it should break in a little.”
With its ottoman-style storage, this product is a dream for people living in small spaces. But what should you store in it? It’s perfect for storing blankets, but we can also imagine using it for excess children’s toys.
The sofa is available in two colors. Commenters were also pleased to see Costco steer away from gray living room sofas with this retro green shade, as that is the most common sofa color offered on sale. However, for those who like it, this sofa is also available in gray.
One thing is for sure: this product is a hit. After selling out and having to be restocked just two weeks after its release, people are talking about what this tells us about home design as a whole.

Are the 70s back in fashion?
For the people who bought the sofa in green, it seems like we’re experiencing a ’70s revival. A lot of commenters felt that the warm-toned wooden base and legs combined with the olive green velvet signaled a return to the disco era, and some even said they were glad to say goodbye to grey and neutral interiors.
