Fort Pierce – Sunday, August 11, 2024: The AE Backus Museum & Gallery is pleased to announce the dates for the call for artists to participate in the annual art exhibition “The Best of the Best.”
The Museum will accept artist submissions by appointment from Wednesday through Sunday until 3:00 p.m. September 4 through September 27, 2024. Registration is open to provide a great opportunity for amateur and professional artists to participate in this ongoing and popular competition. The entry fee is $30 per work. A complete brochure with guidelines and an application form can be downloaded from the Museum’s website at www.BackusMuseum.org. Copies can be picked up at the Museum at 500 North Indian River Drive in historic downtown Fort Pierce, Florida, during regular hours beginning September 4.
Artists can submit their work to “The Best of the Best” in one of the following four media categories:
– Oil and acrylic paintings
– Watercolor (including gouache and tempera);
– Various techniques (including mixed media, pastel, pencil, pen and ink, printmaking, graphics, collage and computer generated works)
– Three-dimensional.
Accepted artworks will compete for cash prizes and placements (1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes) in each category, as well as an overall award for best exhibition. In addition, visitor votes will be counted for a special People’s Choice Award at the end of the exhibition. A full description of all categories, as well as a presentation checklist, can be found in the brochure. Accepted artists and award winners will be announced online by Friday evening, October 4.
Artists must pre-register online for a time slot to submit their artwork. Each 15-minute time slot provides an artist with the opportunity to submit up to three (3) artworks. Artists wishing to submit more than three pieces must register for additional time slots. The best of the best The annual juried exhibition opens the 2024–25 season of the AE Backus Museum & Gallery and will debut with the opening reception on October 5 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and free admission on Sunday, October 6. The exhibition will be on view during regular hours through November 15, 2024.
