Is there room for Bronny James in the rotation?

Bronny James was one of the top stories of the 2024 NBA Draft a few months ago. And he will undoubtedly remain so, as the first father-son duo in NBA history alongside long-time superstar LeBron James.

The pairing has already caused a lot of drama. LeBron recently commented on whether or not “Dad” will be on the court this season. But the only real question remains to be answered: Can Bronny be included in the team’s rotation next season?

At the moment, all signs point to no.

The Lakers are under a bit of time pressure, as LeBron is already 39 years old and Anthony Davis has a long history of injuries. Every win will count in what is sure to be another brutal Western Conference season. And the team can afford to exploit a lot of inexperience.

Since Bronny is 6’3″, the rotation spots are likely already filled by guards D’Angelo Russell, Gabe Vincent, Austin Reaves, Dalton Knecht and Jalen Hood-Schifino.

James also seemed to be a bit behind in the NBA Summer League, averaging 8.8 points on just 35% shooting overall and 16% shooting from beyond the three-point line.

It’s not inconceivable that he’ll get some minutes in the NBA as early as next season, but his efforts will likely be better spent with the South Bay Lakers, where he’ll prepare for his eventual time in the major leagues.

Nevertheless, as the first father-son pair in league history, the duo will certainly provide numerous moments throughout the season.
