It goes without saying that the designer is doing pretty well. As he once told Adwerx, “I’m completely blessed. I went from being a starving artist to not-so-starving.”

When Bromstad isn’t helping lottery winners find their dream home, he spends his own money on whatever his heart desires. The HGTV star lives in his own dream home, has a killer wardrobe, and travels the world when he’s not filming. Whether he’s spending on new tattoos, stylish clothes, or fancy furniture, Bromstad goes all out. Honestly, we can’t get enough of his lavish lifestyle.

Every now and then, David Bromstad’s personal and professional lives intermingle. In 2021, a special episode of “My Lottery Dream Home” was devoted to Bromstad’s search for his perfect property. After living in an apartment throughout the pandemic, Bromstad felt it was time to move. “I had been looking and looking and looking, and I knew what I wanted, but it literally changed every week,” he told HGTV. Eventually, he found the ideal home: a charming Tudor-style house in Florida with four bedrooms, five bathrooms and an outdoor kitchen. He immediately fell in love with the property. “When a house hits you, it hits you, and I found a house and it hit me — hit me hard,” he said. The home was reportedly on the market for $950,000.

Although Bromstad hasn’t shown much of his home on Instagram other than Christmas decorations, it’s clear that his decorating style is as eclectic as his fashion sense. Photos taken during the pandemic in his old apartment show Bromstad lounging on a pink sofa. When speaking to Realtor in 2021 about his design plans, Bromstad said, “It’s going to be delicious, tasteful, daring, yet really cozy.”

It’s safe to assume that becoming the face of HGTV’s “My Lottery Dream Home” has done David Bromstad’s bank account some good. The TV star regularly shares snippets of his vacations on Instagram. In 2023, Bromstad turned 50 and traveled to Norway to celebrate. He shared a photo of himself in front of a lake and wrote: “I decided to celebrate in Norway to see how my ancestors lived and what air they breathed. Being here has answered so many questions about why I love the things I do.”

Bromstad made the most of the area, kayaking, hiking and enjoying nature. Norway is not the only beautiful place Bromstad has visited. He also spent time in Iceland and dedicated an entire highlight on his Instagram profile to that trip. Although these trips tend to be cooler, Bromstad also loves some sunshine. In 2019, he visited Mykonos in Greece and it was not his first trip there. He had already been there two years before.

Longtime fans of My Lottery Dream Home know that David Bromstad has worn some arguably inappropriate outfits. But he’s also worn plenty of fun ensembles that hit the mark. His bold, maximalist looks keep us on our toes, and it seems like Bromstad has an endlessly lavish wardrobe. The star loves flamboyance and color in his clothing and isn’t afraid to buck trends to wear something that brings him joy.

In an August 2024 Instagram post, Bromstad wears a graphic tank top, a blue and pink plaid shirt tied around his waist, cutoff denim shorts, and bright pink slip-on boots. Surprisingly, this is one of Bromstad’s tamer looks. He’s known for wearing everything from colorful shaggy coats to pink cowboy outfits and pink velvet suits. While we don’t know how much he’s spent on his clothing collection, he mentioned in a TikTok for HGTV that he shops a lot at thrift stores. “Everything I wear is a dollar; I just make it look expensive,” he quipped.

When it comes to the holidays, David Bromstad takes seasonal decorating to the next level. In a 2021 Instagram post, Bromstad shared that his parents, Diane and Richard, influenced his approach to Christmas decorating. He posted photos of his home, which featured multiple Christmas trees, gnomes, lights, and more. It was the first time he was able to decorate with his sisters, making it a family affair. “It must be in the genes too, because it’s just not normal, but we sure do love it,” he wrote. Bromstad revealed that he put up a whopping 80 trees for the holiday season.

Bromstad also goes all out for Halloween. That same year, he posted several photos of his house decorated for the spooky season. Cobwebs, battery-operated candles, chains, giant spiders, and more covered every inch of his home. Christmas decorations can get expensive quickly, so we can only imagine how much his extensive Halloween and Christmas accessories cost.

David Bromstad’s iconic pop culture tattoos didn’t appear overnight. Like an art collection, they were curated over several years. Fans of “My Lottery Dream Home” may remember the early seasons when Bromstad didn’t have many visible tattoos. Those days are long gone; now he’s nearly covered in artwork, much of it revolving around his love of Disney. Before Bromstad became an HGTV star, he was a painter and window dresser at Walt Disney World.

“My Mickey Mouse tattoo is the most beautiful,” Bromstad told Hart and Huntington in Orlando. “I love it so much. It not only makes me happy, but it makes everyone around me happy. It’s epic – a carefree soul full of magic.” Bromstad also has a scratch and sniff popcorn tattoo inspired by his family’s love of the snack, the word “Family” in big colorful letters on his torso, a banner that reads “Limited Edition” across his chest and more. According to his interview, he plans to get more tattoos and eventually cover about 40% of his body. Tattoo artists can charge hundreds of dollars per session, but Bromstad has no problem spending his hard-earned money on his body art.
