During her birthday celebrations over the weekend, Madonna took part in the traditional Italian Ferragosto celebrations, which included a fireworks display over the Amalfi Coast, from the balcony of La Tagliata restaurant in Montepertuso.
The “Like a Prayer” singer and her guests – a group of about 30 people in total – were also invited to an exclusive dinner at the Archaeological Park of Pompeii, a source told PEOPLE.
The culinary experience, prepared by three-Michelin-starred restaurant Quattro Passi and overseen by Chef Vincenzo Castaldo of Villa TreVille, was reportedly inspired by the Mediterranean diet and the culinary traditions of the Amalfi Coast.

According to the source, Quattro Passi chefs Antonio and Fabrizio Mellino designed the menu to suit Madonna’s penchant for simple, Mediterranean-inspired dishes – and used locally sourced ingredients. These ingredients included organic vegetables, seafood specialties from the Sorrento Peninsula, local Menaica anchovies and homemade bread.
Chef specialties served during Madonna’s birthday dinner included mini penne with zucchini and endive garnished with seasoned olives and pine nuts, and bruschetta with Sorrento tomatoes and olives, the source added.
As for other delicacies, according to the source, Madonna and her loved ones were treated to white grouper and red bream from the Gulf with herbs from the local Monte San Costanzo, beef fillet, potato salad, focaccia pizza and eggplant dishes.
There were also desserts from the Campania region, including rum-topped baba cakes, sfogliatelle, chocolate and coffee profiteroles, and lemon tarts from Sorrento.
