Minor driver without a license overturns his vehicle

On Monday at 5:46 p.m., Campbell Police responded to a car crash on Winchester Boulevard near Chapman Drive.

According to CPD, a minor driver without a license lost control and hit a tree, causing the vehicle to overturn.

The Santa Clara County Fire Department rescued two patients from the vehicle.

2 dead due to wrong-way driver of a pickup truck

Two people were killed in San Jose on Monday afternoon when they were hit head-on by a pickup truck traveling the wrong way on State Highway 85, the California Highway Patrol said.

At approximately 3:40 p.m., officers received a call about a pickup truck traveling south on the north side of Highway 85, just south of State Highway 87 at Santa Teresa Boulevard.

Authorities said a man driving a pickup truck collided head-on with a Tesla, killing the driver and his passenger. The driver of the pickup truck was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, CHP said.

Broadcaster announces plans for Oktoberfest

KCAT Public TV & Radio has announced its plans for this year’s Los Gatos Oktoberfest, which will be held on Sunday, September 29, from noon to 6 p.m. on the lawn of the Los Gatos Civic Center.

Organizers say the “lederhosen and dirndls”-filled event, held in partnership with sponsor Biergarten, will be family-friendly and free.

KCAT officials added that the annual Bavarian-themed meeting is once again an opportunity to raise money for programs and services for people of all ages at the local nonprofit public broadcaster.

Planned celebrations include:

– Community parade and first PROST! at 12:30 p.m.

– Official ceremonial tapping of the barrel with sponsors at 1.30 p.m.

– Dance and sing along to the popular Bavarian band The Internationals

– Authentic German Oktoberfest menu prepared by The German Guys

– Imported German and local craft beer, wine and soft drinks

– Main dining tent of the festival

– Oktoberfest merch and flower wreaths

– Stein organizes competitions and raffles

– Marionette theatre (2 performances)

– Cornhole, lawn games, beer pong, plinko and more

“Oktoberfest LG is a beloved community tradition that not only celebrates the vibrant spirit of our community, but also serves as a major fundraiser for KCAT’s year-round television, radio and media programs,” said KCAT Executive Director Melissa Toren in a message to supporters.

Pratt graduates Linfield with distinction

Evan Pratt of Los Gatos graduated magna cum laude from Linfield University in the spring semester of 2024, earning a Bachelor of Science in Psychology.

The university awarded 510 degrees to 505 graduates.

Pratt was also named to the Dean’s List.

“Linfield congratulates Pratt on his outstanding academic achievements,” a spokesman said.
