Mother asks ‘Are you sure’ after taking her daughter to a wild birthday party

The days of short birthday parties seem to be over. One mother suffered a shock when she dropped her daughter off at a party that lasted seven hours.

In her viral clip, Teray shares her dismay at the lengthy event that took place from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. at another parent’s house.

The mother of two, who goes by @moderatelycomfy on TikTok, told viewers her daughter would also be celebrating with 15 other second and third graders. “When I was about to leave, I asked the mom, ‘Are you sure? 8 o’clock?’ She said, ‘Yeah, 8 o’clock.’ Like I could never,” Teray said in the clip.

Teray’s video has garnered over 2 million views and thousands of comments and appears to have divided the parenting community, with many agreeing with Teray that 7 hours is indeed “a long time” and others also saying that leaving the child at the party was a “crazy” concept.

“I would have done somersaults if someone had offered to take one of my kids for seven hours,” wrote one TikTok user, while another wrote, “I’m constantly amazed at what people can do.”

On the other side of the comments, some mothers felt that such a long party was nothing unusual: “What could be confusing about that for some?” asked one user.

“Most of our parties are like that. We just set a start time and everyone leaves when they feel like it,” said another.

Others were quick to point out that the day party could be a replacement for the traditional pajama party, with one user providing inspiration: “We don’t have pajama parties at our house, so if a kid asked, I’d do this instead.”

A user called to find out what was new and asked the mother how her daughter enjoyed the seven-hour party.

In a follow-up video, Teray admitted that she didn’t think her previous reaction to the birthday party would attract so much attention.

She also addressed concerns from other users who wondered if she knew the parents at the party, and Teray clarified that she lives in a small community and all the girls at the party play hockey.

“This is not something we would do without thinking long and hard and preparing thoroughly with our daughter before taking her to a place like this,” she said in the video.

When she arrived at the party, Teray said the host parents offered her a drink. In the next video, Teray is seen sipping on a White Claw, with the text overlay: “Be cool, be cool, be cool.”
