Based on a true story brought The Big Bang Theory And The flight attendant Actress Kaley Cuoco is returning to Peacock in 2023, and the wait for the next chapter of the deadly comedy thriller has begun. The series, which also stars Chris Messina, was renewed for a second season last year without a release date announced… at least until now! Peacock has revealed when to expect the release Based on a true story Season 2, complete with a first look that confirms a big change from Season 1.
Season 2 of Based on a true story will premiere on Thursday, November 21st for Peacock Premium subscribers. The first look doesn’t reveal many details about the upcoming episodes, but it does reveal a big change for Kaley Cuoco’s Ava this time around. Check it out for yourself:
Not surprisingly, Ava will no longer be pregnant when Based on a true story is coming back for season 2. She and Nathan were expecting the imminent arrival of their child at the end of season 1, so it always seemed likely that a big change would be the parental status of the two main characters. Additionally, Kaley Cuoco gave birth to her real child after battling cravings on set.
And Peacock’s description of season two specifies that the story begins when Ava and Nathan have been parents for three months, which means there will be a time jump from the end of season one, but it probably won’t be a huge one.
This time around, Ava wants to focus on her family and get back to work in real estate rather than pursuing her obsession with true crime, while Nathan focuses on tennis. With the return of Matt (Tom Bateman) and Tory (Liana Liberato) and the end of season one, it’s safe to assume that the Bartletts’ lives will be turned upside down by a new series of murders not too long after the new season begins.
Whether Matt is behind the murders (which could also put Tory in danger) remains to be seen, but Ava and Nathan may have suspicions after the events of the first season. Melissa Fumero of Brooklyn Nine-Nine Fame is also part of the cast as Ava’s new boyfriend Drew.
With Ava no longer pregnant and the Bartletts now new parents, a lot of things about the show could be very different in Season 2. However, I’m pretty relieved that one thing will stay the same: All eight episodes of Season 2 will air together on November 21 in the 2024 television schedule.
The genres of the show really make it an attractive binge-watching format, and this release format obviously worked well enough in Season 1 to bring it back for Season 2. The streamer hasn’t switched the show to a weekly release, which I think is a good sign. Add in an obviously short time jump, and I think there’s a lot to look forward to in the coming months.
If you missed the first season of, Based on a true storyYou can stream it in full on Peacock now. Kaley Cuoco had her real-life baby on set while filming season 2, and the pictures she shared were just freaking cute.
