The great Isaiah Williams from Illinois now gets the chance to compete against the orange and blue.
Williams made the Detroit Lions’ 53-man roster on Tuesday after surviving the final round of cuts ahead of Week 1 next week.
In three preseason games, Williams led his team in catching 11 balls for 123 yards, but since signing with the Lions as a non-drafted free agent, he has shone throughout the offseason.

Williams is coming off an All-Big Ten First Team season in which he led the conference with 82 passes caught. His 1,055 receiving yards were second-most in the conference.
The St. Louis native has been with the Illinois program since 2019 and has played in every game over the past three seasons – including the 2023 ReliaQuest Bowl.
Williams was originally signed as a quarterback for the Illini and became known as the best receiver in Illinois’ offense. Offensive coordinator Barry Lunney Jr. used him in a variety of ways.
The Lions open the 2024 season on September 8 against the Rams.
