LA Clippers ready to help Steve Kerr and the Warriors prevent locker room meltdown ahead of new NBA season

The trend continues! Just a few days ago, the Warriors announced that they would be traveling to Hawaii for their preseason training camp. After Klay’s departure, their roster has changed a lot, and management reportedly believes that a change of environment could lead to a healthy cohesion. Now, the Clippers are following in the footsteps of Joe Lacob and Co. and announced that they plan to hold a training camp in Hawaii. However, this could inadvertently help Steve Kerr and Co. to clear things up before the start of the regular season.

Just like the Dubs, Steve Ballmer’s team will begin training camp on October 1st. While Steve Kerr and Co. will be doing their training camp at Brigham Young University in Oahu, the Clippers’ training camp will be housed at the University of Hawaii’s Stan Sheriff Center. Training camp will last 5 days and culminate when both teams face off in a preseason game on October 5th at SimpliFi Arena.

This could certainly be a great learning experience for both teams. With the core of Klay, Steph and Draymond no longer intact, Steve Kerr’s Warriors face a big task: finding a new identity. And they have signed several new stars, including Buddy Hield and Kyle Anderson, who are expected to facilitate that transition.

Meanwhile, Steph’s future is also uncertain, as he can sign a one-year, $62.6 million contract extension before opening night in late October. So training camp in Hawaii could help solidify the bond of the re-formed Warriors and prevent a major collapse in the regular season. And as for the Clippers, the island trip could help them figure out how to get by without a star like Paul George. But when we talk about the island and the two franchises, does that really ring a bell?

Warriors and Clippers already have connections to Hawaii!

Well, it’s not the first time the two teams have traveled to the beautiful islands before the start of the season. In fact, it’s become something of a tradition for the Clippers, as this would be their fifth trip to Hawaii in the last seven years. Meanwhile, this is the first time in years that the Warriors have traveled outside of the Bay Area for their training camp. However, they also traveled to Hawaii frequently for preseason games in the early 2000s.

The trip will bring back many memories for Steph, as 8 years ago he hosted a basketball camp on the BYU campus that was attended by hundreds of young, aspiring basketball players. “To bring it here to Hawaii, to see our fans here, they can see all of our games despite the time difference and all that… so to come down and share and kind of embrace Dub Nation here in Hawaii, I think is a really great experience,” Steph had talked about his camp in an interview.

And perhaps the trip to Hawaii will help the Warriors gain more clarity on how they plan to proceed this season with the re-formed core, the greater involvement of young names and the massive contract extension with Steph Curry.
